Buenos dias, y’all, 9/14 is “SUPPORT LATINO BUSINESS DAY” (TY, Mayor @ericgarcetti!)
.
The Latin vibes in a lot of HLAY’s food comes from the Mexican brain of chef/owner @jonathanwhitener, whom @latimesfood critic @bill_addison gave a shout-out to in a recent LA Times Food Newsletter. Bill was saying he’s hoping to see more of a zoom-in on cuisine regionalism in restaurant cooking (yass), then said:
.
“But chefs that can pull off the kind of cultural splicing that Jonathan Whitener achieves at Here’s Looking at You have equally high standing.”
.
That’s so nice 💔. About as nice as this Shakshuka Verde served for brunch. Green chilies and cotija, no mames! #SupportLatino 💚🥚❤️
.
#HLAYbrunch every Sat + Sun 10:30-2:30, walk-ins AND ressies 📸: @sneakerzimmer 😘 #HLAYforever
